Using the Website CMS
The CMS that we provide can be your primary website, or it can be an adjunct to your primary website. If it's your primary website, then it can have as many pages as you need, including standard items like a contact us page, directions to your store, an about page, an order policies page and so forth. In addition, there will be a list of your RentControl categories. When a visitor clicks on a category, he will be shown all the types associated with the category, optionally with pricing.
If you use our CMS simply as an adjunct to your primary site, then you will link to the opening page (which can be styled to match your existing site). The page that is linked to will list your RentControl categories and, as noted above, when one is clicked, the user will be shown the types connected with the category, optionally with prices.
Showing Multiple Levels of Inventory
RentControl only supports two levels of categorization: Categories and Types. But the website can support two additional ones which we call a supercategory and a subcategory. Visitors to your website will want the ability to easily find what they need, and multiple levels makes it easier to organize your offerings. For example, if you rent tables, you might want to distinguish between types of tables (banquet, training, miscellaneous), and then within "banquet," distinguish between round and rectangular. Our CMS can handle this.
Similarly, if you rent linens, you might first want to list fabric types, and within types, colors, before actually showing the linen sizes you have available. After all, if someone is designing an event, fabric type and color are of primary interest. Our CMS can handle this.
Photos
Nothing sells like color pictures of your stock. You not only have extra levels of classification, you can also associate pictures with these levels as well as with your inventory. If you rent linens, you can have a picture associated with the category (a "damask" swatch), a picture with the subcategory ("red"), and even a picture of a tablecloth or chair cover with the item types. In other cases, where all items in a type are similar, you can direct the CMS to show a single picture rather than individual ones (e.g., one picture of a red damask tablecloth will suffice for all sizes of tablecloths).
By the way, click on one of the thumbnails associated with an inventory item. The ability to click-to-enlarge is included with your website.
